What is living in purpose? How do you know that you are living in purpose? There are times when we think we are supposed to wake up, go to work, eat lunch, go home, take care of the kids, go to bed and start again. What part of that day are you “thinking for yourself”? Living in purpose is your ability to move out of robot mode to living in child like mode. There is a purpose for waking up. To play. To have adventures. To develop a new way of doing something that isn’t so mundane.
If this seems like there is no way you can do this for yourself, then you are right. But if you find this to be interesting and something you want to engage in, then you are on the right path already. I know that it is hard to wake up everyday ready to “take up the sword to fight the dragon”. But you can make it a happen to set your intention before even opening your eyes (fully) what your day will be like. All it takes is “Today I will…” You will finish a third of your project, you will make it to your son’s baseball game on time, you eat at home instead of getting takeout.
When we set our intentions in the morning (or even before we go to sleep the night before) it’s setting your day for success. There is no way you can not have a progressive day if you set your intention – even if you don’t get it done – because with every intention there is always a plan B, C, D… There are days that I don’t want to get out of bed, but I do it anyway because those are the days I know that I need to get out of the bed the most. I seem to always find people that are inspiring, find a new way of accomplishing a task, or I was able to make a change in someone else’s life.
Living in Purpose is a mindset that you have to choose to live with. It’s a muscles that needs to be constantly worked – everyday. The more you do it the easier it is and it becomes a habit. Just like exercising, meditating, writing in your journal, you have to practice doing it.
Let me know what your morning routine is like and if you set your intention before fully waking up.
